“The flesh and blood (of the Qurbani animals) will never reach Allah, but it is your Taqwa that will reach Him.” (Surah Hajj, Aayat 37)
The key ingredient demanded by Allah Ta’ala regarding the Ibaadat of Qurbani is Taqwa, as stated in the Aayat above. Therefore, on the day of Qurbani which comes once a year only, do your Qurbani while maintaining Taqwa.
There has to be Taqwa in regard to the environment as well. Farms, someone’s yard or your own backyard have to uphold the Islamic Demand of a Taqwa-friendly environment.
It is not Fardh to make Qurbani of a bull / camel at the expense of making Qurbani of the Laws of Shari’at!
Ladies mixing with men, brother-in-laws with sister-in-laws, females/males slaughtering in the presence of non-Mahrams, videoing and photographing of the slaughtering, etc. are ingredients of an anti-Taqwa environment at any farm, facility, venue or even your backyard.
Thus, if you can afford to purchase a big animal (bull or camel) and the only facility to slaughter it is at a farm where there is a carnival-type merry-making anti-Taqwa environment, wherein the Laws of Deen are made Qurbani of, then rather purchase a sheep / goat and slaughter it in your backyard while upholding a Taqwa friendly environment!
Remember, many times we forget that a Taqwa friendly facility has to be also maintained for the Qurbani made in one’s own backyard! This means no mixing between male/female cousins, brother/sister-in-laws, neighbours and their husbands/wives, no photography, etc.!!!
