Who Is A Proper Moulana? (Part 1)

Brief introduction:

In this era, we have many individuals with the honourable title of ‘Moulana’ attached to their names, or at least known to be, yet their deeds are the most detestable.

At times, the clothing of these ‘Moulanas’ do not resemble any signs of piety and humility. The latest fancy so-called ‘kurtahs’ which are not the Sunnah Kurtahs and which are branded as ‘Nike’, ‘BMW’ etc., or have funny colours which at times are not even permissible for men to wear, many zips, fake pockets and fancy designs, are worn by these ‘Moulanas’. They are addicted to following fashion, the latest trends and style. Huge numbers, alphabets, football-team logos (some are impermissible colours for men to wear) and other similar flashy jackets are worn by these ‘Moulanas’. They are not interested in wearing simple, one-coloured and no writing / numbers / logos on the jackets and jerseys.

Vaping and Hookah smoking are also among the hobbies and pass-time of these ‘Moulanas’, regrettably.

Demolishing the Sunnah at various occasions and showing NO frown or change of the face when the Sunnah is discarded, involves these ‘Moulanas’. 

Some ‘Moulanas’ are involved in watching films, taking and posing for photography, You Tube, appearing on TV, hosting programs on radio station in which young females are interviewed, are not mindful of the meat and food they consume, participate at Haraam Souks and conferences, interfaith seminars and a host of other evil dens in which Haraam is committed on a macro-scale.

We therefore, wish to inform the sincere Muslims who intend to gain maximum benefit from Moulanas who are genuine and true to their knowledge which they have learnt.

Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali has defined a true and proper ‘Moulana’. We will mention his definition in few parts in order for the reader to have ample time to go through each one and understand it as well as remember it, Insha Allah.

Remember, a true and proper ‘Moulana’ is a guide to the Ummah, an asset to the Ummah and a proper heir of the Ambiya, for his deeds and sayings will be governed by the knowledge he possesses. 

Moulana Ashraf Ali says:  

“Moulana is a person who knows the Ahkaam (Commandments of Allah Ta’ala), not one who merely is versed with the Arabic language. Abu Jahl also knew the Arabic language, but his title was ‘Abu Jahl’ – the Father of Ignorance. He was not called ‘Aalim’.”
