Who Is A Proper Moulana? (Part 3)

(Continued from Part 2. Link to Part 2: http://custodiansofthehaq.co.za/who-is-a-proper-moulana-part-2/)

Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi Rahmatullahi alaih further explains as to who is a proper and genuine Moulana:

“A Moulana is one who is attached to his Maula – his Master – Allah Ta’ala. He possesses knowledge of the Deen and he is a Muttaqi (repository of Taqwa). He bears Akhlaaq-e-Hameedah (Praiseworthy Character), such as Fear for Allah Ta’ala, etc.”

Comment: ‘Attached to his Maula’, means he is involved in activities which first of all are Halaal and permissible in Deen. Hence, any Moulana or Mufti appearing on TV shows he is not attached to his Maula, nor can such a Moulana or Mufti be a proper Aalim in Deen.

This also means that one will not find any proper Moulana or Mufti sitting in one corner and wasting time in futile activities, and worse, Haraam activities, such as: smoking, chatting to non-Mahram women with no valid need – whether directly or on the cellphone, takes selfies, poses for pictures, non observance of Hijaab – especially with female cousins, indulging in Haraam Kuffaar sports such as cricket and soccer – especially during weekends, supporting such sports (like soccer), watching such sports on Haraam TV or live-streaming on the internet, keeping a meticulous record of every minute when his ‘favourite’ team plays, is more interested in indulging in and participating in other works rather than Khidmat of Deen, does not observe basic Sunnats such as wearing a Kurtah which is above his ankles at ALL times and wearing a Topi, always wears and craves for branded clothing and jackets, is not bothered in wearing simple clothing which is not flashy nor has any big writings, numbers and different bright colous (some colours are impermissible for men to wear like yellow, red, feminine colours), and the list goes on.

In short, any Moulana or Mufti whose connection and attachment is more to the world, and in the quest of various temporary ‘achievements’ of the world he also breaks many Commands of the Shari’ah, and at times also justifies these sinful crimes of his. Such a man, no matter what his position may be in which Masjid or organization, can never be a reliable Deeni Aalim. One should NOT place one’s reliance on him in one’s Deeni affairs!

Remember, an Aalim is supposed to be attached to the knowledge he studied. He is supposed to be connected with A’maal and Sunnats. Following the Sahri’ah, wearing a Kurtah and Topi and indulging in activities which are Halaal are supposed to be a basic lifestyle of any Moulana or Mufti!

It is, however, expected from modern Ulama and Ulama-e-Soo’ who are Mudhilleen – those who themselves are astray and lead others also astray, to carry out actions which are contrary to the Sunnah. These Ulama will do wrong publicly, and thereafter try to justify their stinking sins committed in public with the Holy and Pure Fragrance of Qur’aanic Aayat, or sayings of the Akaabireen which are generally quoted out of context!

Innalillahi wa-innaa-ilayhi Raji’oon!

These Ulama are generally found at dens of sins and Haraam such as Souks, funerals of politicians, TV, radio stations – even if they are named Islamic, there is nothing Islamic about them besides the presenters to be Muslims, cruises which are named as ‘Islamic’ or ‘Muslim’, marriage conferences in which comedians also perform and entertain the crowd consisting of Muslims (sadly), weddings in which actions of open Kufr and Shirk are perpetrated, and the list goes on.

May Allah Ta’ala save the Ummah from such Ulama who are Ulama-e-Soo’ and Mudhilleen, Aameen.

(To be continued, Insha Allah)
