A UK Brother’s Letter

Tariq Jamil is currently on a UK tour, just as he was in on a tour in SA a few weeks ago. However, worse than SA is his manner of conducting lectures in the UK. Hereunder we reproduce verbatim a letter from a UK brother who went to one of his speeches on Saturday, 21 July 2018.

The brother is a non-Aalim. He writes:

I am at a Tariq Jameel event. I am witnessing showbiz Islam. His entourage came, with white bodyguards in black suits and shades running alongside the convoy and clearing the way as he made his entry into the marquee in an open field. The crowd of women and men rose to take photos. There is no separation of sexes, and no partition.

The first ten rows of chairs have been reserved for ulama, senior members of Tabligh Jamaat and Mosque trustees. Women are sitting among them too. I would have expected the ulama and Tabligh Jamaat elders to retreat to a corner where they will be as far away as possible from women but nothing of that sort has happened.

Moulana Tariq Jameel is easily visible to all of us but the organisers in their wisdom have decided that he must also be beamed on a big screen. The event has been organised by a welfare organisation and an investment company who showed us videos of their work and did fundraising before Moulana’s grand arrival.

Entry was free but we had to register online. Starting time was supposed to be 2pm. When we and others got here organisers were not yet ready. We said we’d like to enter the field so that we can read our Zohar. Organisers said we can’t and there are no salaah facilities. We said there is no need for facilities. The whole earth is a Mosque. Eventually we all just forced our way in, made Wuzu and read namaaz.

(End of the letter.)

Innalillahi wa Innaa Ilaihi Raaji’oon!

The questions we have to ask are: If Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wasallam was alive today, would he have preached Islaam in the manner mentioned above?

Did any Sahaabi preach Islaam like this?

If Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wasallam was alive today, would Tariq Jamil have the guts to do what he just did in UK?

And if unfortunately, Tariq Jamil would have done the same, what would Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wasallam have done?

Each one of us should answer the questions by ourselves. Insha Allah, our hearts will give the correct answers.

Now you be the judge…
