The Night of Eid – A Precious Night!
Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Whoever stands up (in worship) in the nights preceding the two Eids expecting reward from his Sustainer, his heart will not die when other hearts will die (i.e. he will have no fear on the Day of Qiyaamah when hearts will be filled with terror).” (Ibn Maajah)
Few Sunnats of Eid-ul-Fitr
- To wake up early
- To engage in reciting the Takbeer SILENTLY from Subah Saadiq until just before the Eid Salaah
- To clip the moustache
- To have a Ghusl (bath)
- To ensure unwanted hair is removed
- To use the Miswaak
- To wear clean ISLAMIC clothes – it is NOT necessary for clothes to be NEW. Yes, it is necessary for clothes to be ISLAMIC
- To use Itr
- To eat an odd number of dates (Khajoor) before the performance of Eid Salaah
- To pay one’s Sadaqatul-Fitr before leaving for Eid Salaah, if not yet paid.
- To perform Eid Salaah at the Eidgah
- To recite the Takbeer SILENTLY en-route to the Eidgah
