SANHA LABELLING ERRORS AND SUPPLIER OR STORE FAULT EXCUSES
Sanha & other certifying bodies have a history of goods labelled Halaal that are Haraam or against their own standards.
They are in the business of certification, not bodies concerned with Halaal for Muslims.
Below are some statements and standards set by Sanha. We wish to highlight the MONITORING aspect of their statements.
Sanha charges fees but most labelling errors and other shenanigans are picked up by the public.
They even stated in their latest statement and previously as well (similar) that:
“We take this opportunity to thank the community for being vigilant and alerting us so that prompt action could be taken. “Remember, you are our eyes and ears.(Sanha).”
So what happened to their supervision and monitoring. Why is it always the public that finds these errors and have to be the eyes and ears while they get paid for the job?
Also keep in mind that they thank the vigilant community so action could be taken. Either they apologise for the mistake or distance themselves from the error. Why do both (thank and take action AND passing the buck on)
LET’S LOOK AT SOME OF THE MONITORING STATEMENTS
To establish a representative, professional, internationally recognized Halaal authority which promotes professionalism and excellence in the process of certifying, monitoring and promoting Halaal products in accordance with the Divine dictates of the Shari’ah (Islamic Law).
(Where is this monitoring they speak of when their logo is being used in error?-Qalamul Haq)Certify products which comply with Halaal requirements and provide on-going monitoring and logistical support to Halaal certified companies.
(AGAIN ON-GOING MONITORING-Qalamul Haq)
To develop and implement effective control and monitoring systems thereby guaranteeing to the highest possible standards that products labelled “Halaal” are truly Halaal compliant.
(CONTROL & MONITORING AGAIN-Qalamul Haq)
Previously a number of small and largely regional organisations purported to certify products as Halaal. Many of these organisations had neither the resources nor the management capacity to adequately address the issue. They were, however, established with the sole object of generating income from the so-called Halaal certification process.
Many products that bear Halaal certification marks have been discovered by the Muslim community to be deceptive in that the prescribed supervision and certification procedures have not been adhered to. This led to widespread confusion, suspicion and dissatisfaction at both industry and consumer level.
(READ THIS WELL AND SEE THE SIMILARITY TO THE PREVIOUS WHO “had neither the resources nor the management capacity to adequately address the issue” & “Many of these organisations had neither the resources nor the management capacity to adequately address the issue.-Qalamul Haq)
SANHA has always been averse to the certification of establishments which store, handle and/or process Halaal and non-Halaal meat products on common premises. The risk of contamination in such circumstances is unavoidable. SANHA has therefore not considered applications from such establishments.
(REALLY?!-Qalamul Haq)
Where required, at least two Muslim employees will be involved in the production or preparation of Halaal meat products or foods. Their full-time presence is vital in helping to continually verify all Halaal food sources. They must also be involved in the receiving of Halaal food or meat supplies. They must have the right to inspect all relevant documentation in respect of the same.
(NOT SO. THERE ARE FOOD OUTLETS THAT HAVE HAD NOT EVEN ONE MUSLIM ON SITE. MANAGER ALSO NOT MUSLIM. WHERE IS THE MONITORING?-Qalamul Haq checked)
The Inspectorate department continues to bear the greater responsibility of monitoring and maintaining Halaal certification standards at certified plants. Alhamdulillah, a zero-tolerance approach is implemented where there is gross wilful breach of the Halaal standards.
(WHAT IS THE INSPECTORATE DEPARTMENT UP TO? ARE THEY DOING THEIR JOBS?-Qalamul Haq)
In light of the above, Sanha and their supporters should hang their heads in shame.
As for the Basting Ingredients argument, let’s not fool yourselves. The Logo appears on the product. So one could conclude that if Halaal basting is put on a Haraam product, then this would make it Halaal! A foolish response indeed.
