QUESTION: A (new) Masjid in the Gauteng area has an “official opening” event.
In their poster, the following I find very disturbing:
1. Males and females
2. Stalls
3. Sisters facilities available
Please comment if Muslims should go for this, which is scheduled for a Jumu’ah Night.
Was-salaam
ANSWER: The entire Masjid opening ceremony in the style mentioned on the poster is a Haraam function.
Added Haraam is the allowing of ladies to the stalls, in the name of the Masjid opening.
Is the Masjid another opportunity for business? How can one turn the Masjid environment into that of a stalls-souk-pop up kind?
The surroundings of the Masjid, which includes the parking, the shoe racks, the Wuzu Khanah and even the toilets demand some sort of Respect! One should not make noise in the parking area nor in the toilets section. This is the minimum we as Muslims should do in showing Respect to the Houses of Allah Ta’ala.
Imagine what a Haraam and anti-Islamic environment the opening ceremony will result in, right outside the Masjid. Stalls, shopping, buying and selling, food and drinks and ladies – some dressed in Haraam attire and some with no Hijaab at all – will be entertained juts a few meters away from the Mimbar and Mihraab of the Masjid.
This event is a total disservice to the Masjid.
May Allah Ta’ala guide the Trustees to realize the wrongs in allowing such activities and to cancel it, Aameen.
It is our plea that Muslims don’t attend such ceremonies.
Wassalaam
