Our Masaajid on Jumu’ah day

While almost every Muslim is present for the Jumu’ah Salaah, many are neglectful of the Khutbah.

The Jumu’ah Khutbah is just as important as the Salaah.

The sad condition of some unfortunate people during Jumu’ah Khutbah:

1. Leaning against the wall at the far back of the Masjid

2. Chatting on WhatsApp

3. Viewing and downloading photos and videos from social media

4. Viewing videos on YouTube

5. Talking (or whispering) loudly with friends

6. Catching up on sports

7. Discussing news

8. Politics

9. Gold/Rand/Dollar/petrol prices

10. Business deals

11. Weekend plans

12. etc. etc. etc.

Doing any of the above while in the Masjid, during the Khutbah, is a major sin!!!

When Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wasallam prohibited the manner of ‘haphazard’ sitting during a Khutbah, as narrated by Hazrat Muaaz bin Anas Al-Juhani Radhiyallahu anhu:

“Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wasallam prohibited sitting with one’s knees against one’s chest while the Imaam is delivering the sermon on the day of Jumu’ah.” (Abu Dawood)

Then what would the condition of the Blessed Heart of Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wasallam be observing the behaviour of some elders, as well as many youngsters in our community?

Think! O Ummah! Where are we heading to?

What example are we setting for our children?

Watching videos on YouTube from our phones while sitting in the Masjid, we can expect the Masaajid turning into cinemas in the near future years.

The Ummah has to wake up, and wake up very fast. We are heading to an era in which we will notice Haraam to be considered as Halaal, if we are not already seeing this?!

May Allah Ta’ala grant us the Tawfeeq to respect His House, especially on the day of Jumu’ah.

Not performing Jumu’ah Salaah?

Those men who don’t even perform Jumu’ah Salaah without a valid reason are most unfortunate.

The following Hadith sounds severe warning to such unfortunate men:

“Whoever missed three Jumu’ahs out of negligence, Allah Ta’ala will place a seal over his heart.” (Nasaai)
