It must be noted that this type of social distancing is merely recommended by the authorities;
it is not mandatory or enforceable.
This is clearly stated in the rules laid down by Government.
There is, therefore, no force or imposition on musallees to observe this during salaah.
Unfortunately, our Muslims are acting as if this social distancing is a Divine Injunction! People
are implementing this social distancing in Masaajid just because government said so.
I ask such people to place a hand on their Iemaani hearts and ask: “What does Allah and His Rasool say about such distortion of our jamaat salaah?” We urge all worshippers who attend the masaajid NOT to adhere to this un-Islamic protocol.
Form your jamaat rows as normal, standing shoulder
to shoulder. You can distance yourselves when offering the sunnats before and after the faradh salaah.
Standing next to an infected person does not necessarily mean one will get infected with the virus.
Let common sense prevail, and moreover, let Shariah become a priority in our lives.
A hadeeth states: “There is no obedience to the creation if it entails disobedience to
Allah.” (Narrated by Imam Ahmed)
