‘The Azkaar And Wazeefahs Prescribed By Ulama’

Explaining the close-connection and feelings every Ummati has for another Ummati, Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:

اَلْمُسْلِمُوْنَ كَرَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ إِنِ اشْتَكي عَيْنُهُ اِشْتَكي كُلهُ وَ إِنِ اشْتَكي رَأسُهُ اِشْتَكي كُلهُ

 “Muslims are like one body of a person. If the eye is sore, the whole body aches, and if the head aches, the whole body aches.” (Muslim Shareef)

Indeed, the Ummah in various parts of the world – especially in Kashmir, India and Syria – is undergoing a difficult time. Definitely, as Muslims, we will feel the pain of the torture and sufferings of the Ummah in these parts of the world. The above Hadith clearly depicts this fact.

While the enemies of Allah, His Rasool and the Qur’an (viz. the Mushrikeen) are torturing and lynching innocent Muslims, we should understand that bringing a stop to all of this can never be achieved in ways and means in which Allah Ta’ala is disobeyed.

Allah Ta’ala’s Nusrat (Divine Aid) can NEVER be attracted by Haraam means. Marching on roads, chanting slogans of protest, sharing Haraam pictures and videos of scenes of various tortures and brutality meted out to the Kashmiris and India’s Muslim etc. is NEVER the route to adopt.

Allah Ta’ala’s Nusrat is attracted with only one way, viz. Inaabat ilallah – turning to Allah Ta’ala. Turning to Allah Ta’ala fully and completely. Turning to Allah Ta’ala means following and obeying His Deen, the Sunnats of His Rasool (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and the Laws of Islam wholeheartedly, fully and completely – though we may slip, but we must accept our shortcomings and mistakes and not justify any sin!

We have heard of pious and senior Ulama, who are advising the Ummah to recite certain forms of Azkaar, Du’as, Wazeefahs etc., like ‘Nastaghfirullah’, ‘Rabbanaa laa taj’alnaa fitnatal-lil qawmith-Zaalimeen…’ and Surah Feel ‘X’ amount of times daily. However, merely confining to the recitation of such Azkaar and Wazeefahs few hundred times a day, while at the same time carrying on in our un-Islamic activities will have NO real effect.

Just like a person with some allergy is told by a doctor or Hakeem to take certain medications, while at the same time abstain from certain types of foods etc., to see an effective difference, so too, as an Ummah, merely by increasing in Azkaar etc. for the lamentable state of the Ummah while carrying on in sinful and justified un-Islamic acts is of no avail.

While the Ulama who have come to the fore, have made Amr bil Ma’roof (enjoined good) by prescribing the various forms of Azkaar the Ummah should recite daily, however, we have not seen any Nahi anil Munkar (forbidding evil) from these Ulama. Amr bil Ma’roof and Nahi anil Munkar go hand in hand. Both are imperative. Both are necessary. Explaining the close-connection both have, Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:

“Enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, before a time dawns when you make Du’a and you are not answered.” (Ibn Majah)

We learn from the above Hadith that if Amr bil Ma’roof Nahi anil Munkar is abandoned, then a time will dawn when we will make Du’a unto Allah Ta’ala – the Du’a can be in various forms such as the Azkaar and Wazeefahs the Ulama have prescribed like ‘Nastaghfirullah’, etc. – but our Du’as will be unanswered. Hence, it would had been good if the pious, senior and honourable Ulama who prescribed various Azkaar and Wazeefahs also mentioned few points of Nahi anil Munkar – forbid the evils Muslims are drowning in on a large scale globally.

Nevertheless, we will Insha Allah, mention few such points of Nahi anil Munkar:

2. ‘Islamic’ radio stations: These are mouthpieces and headquarters of Shaitaan from where he is able to propagate all his Shaitaani ideologies under the guise of ‘Islam’. The so-called radio stations dubbed in ‘Islam’ or ‘Islamic’ names, are un-Islamic and Haraam stations. There are a host of Haraam activities these so-called ‘Islamic’ radios propagate, in which even modernised and westernised so-called ‘Ulama’ come on-air! The women speaking in soft, alluring and charming tones, women interviewing strange men on air, women speaking to so-called ‘Ulama’ on air, girls coming on air and singing Nazams, advertisements of Riba (interest) such as Old-Mutual, Oasis etc., the concealing of the Haq by the demoralised modern radio Ulama, etc., etc., etc. are all the Shaitaani propagations these radios dub with ‘Islamic’ names offer. These are just some of the factors which render the whole so-called ‘Islamic’ radios Haraam.
3. Photography/videography – pictography: Animate pictures and videos are Haraam, no matter which Mufti has penned down what Fatwa. Islam is not based on concocted Fatwas of the modernised and westernised TV- Radio- You-Tube- Instagram Ulama of the 15^th From Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam), throughout the corridor of history, every Great Faqeeh, Mujtahid, Mufassir, Muhaddith, Imaam and every pious Akaabir of Deoband understood all types of photography to be Haraam, regardless of the manner of making photos in their respective eras were. But, unfortunately, modern Molvis and Muftis 15 centuries later – in an era which is very close to Qiyaamah – have given the Haraam Fatwas of Jawaaz (permissibility) of digital photography. As a result, these modern ‘Ulama’ of organizations of ‘Ulama’ and Jamiats (in SA) appear on Dajjal’s eye – the Shaitaani venomous tool called the TV. Some Ulama and ‘Ameers’ of such Ulama organizations have begun their own You-Tube channels! You-Tube is a tool and medium of pictography, hence Haraam. It is utterly lamentable to learn of such activities of these modern Ulama. Indeed, they are of the fraternity of Soo’ (evil).
4. Haraam weddings: It is senseless that we blow hot-air about the sufferings and starvation of the Syrian Muslims, while every weekend we squander hundreds of thousands of valuable Rands down the sewage and gutters of wastage and Israaf, in the name of weddings, mock Walimahs, family reunions and other mass Da’wats in which the majority of guests are the affluent, while the poor and needy remain hungry. The Ulama, while encouraging various Azkaars and Wazeefahs for the plight of the Ummah, should also voice their disapproval of these mass-wastages of Rands and food.
5. The empty Masaajid: This point is indeed one which makes every sincere Ummati weep. If the Masaajid had voices, perhaps we would had been able to hear the sobbing and wailing of the empty Masaajid. The Haraam Masjid-Awards is firstly a Haraam activity, however, it serves no practical purpose of the Masaajid becoming Aabaad (filled) besides portraying a sign of Qiyaamah. Besides that, we still notice the empty Saffs Fajr time!
6. Women driving: It is imperative upon every brother not to allow his sister, every father not to allow his daughter and every husband not to allow his wife to drive. When a woman drives, then her husband/father becomes a cuckold (Dayyooth). A cuckold is that husband/father who doesn’t care which strange male speaks, ogles or flirts with his wife/daughter. Regarding the Dayyooth, Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “There are three (types of people) at whom Allah Azza Wa Jall will not look (with Mercy) on the Day of Qiyaamah. The one who disobeys his parents, the woman who imitates men in her outward appearance and the cuckold (Dayyooth).” (Nasaai) When a woman drives, she strips herself of Hayaa and Hijaab – though she may be wearing a face-covering. Hijaab is not restricted to only a face-covering. Proper and genuine Hijaab means that despite the face is covered, a woman must not allow herself to be seen by strange men. And when a woman drives, she allows every Tom, Paul and Jack to see her – even if she has a face-covering. What happens then when a male police officer stops her? What happens when she is stopped at a roadblock amidst male police officers? What happens when she gets a breakdown and a male stops to lend a hand? When anyone stops anywhere – in any parkade or parking-lot – and jumps out of the car, every car-guard and passer-by will expect the driver’s door to open for someone to jump out. In the case of a Muslim woman driver, she allows herself to be seen by the Ghair Mahram car-guard and many other eyes of strange men around her. There is a Hadith which explains that when women will be on saddles (in our era, behind the wheel – i.e. drives) then await the Final Hour (i.e. Qiyaamat is not very far). Many – even Ulama – don’t understand the meaning of proper Hijaab. Thus, we have seen Ulama who are Imaams of the Masjids, deliver Bayaans, do many other works of Deen, but they allow their wives to drive around town! Innaa-lillaahi-wa-innaa-ilaihi-raaji’oon! A brother once mentioned that when he was driving back home from Salaah, 90% of vehicles which passed him were driven by Muslim women!

The above are just a few common sins we mentioned. There are still hundreds of other such vices we can explain, however, for the sake of brevity, we will suffice on the above. Insha Allah, we will write on the others in a future article.

In conclusion, the crisis of the Ummah will NOT improve if the Ummah carries on in the above and many other sins. Today, unfortunately, there is hardly anyone who bats an eyelid when evils and sins are committed. Even Ulama have no gumption to follow the Sunnah. We have seen occasions when there were 90% of Ulama in a gathering, when the time for meals arrived, tables and chairs were laid and set. And the gathering consisting of 90% of Ulama, sat at tables and chairs and ate the meal IN AN ANTI-SUNNAH, KUFFAR-APING MANNER!!!

Thus, mere Azkaars and Wazeefahs without changing our condition will not attract the Nusrat of Allah Ta’ala!
