Hazrat Usaamah Bin Zaid (Radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:
“I have not left behind for men a more dangerous fitnah (trial, tribulation) than women.”
(Bukhaari and Muslim – Mishkaat)
The fitnah of women for men has been described as “the most dangerous” for the following reasons:
Firstly, men are generally very much attracted towards women.
Secondly, men are generally very concerned about the desires of women.
In consequence, they (men) fall into haraam things.
Thirdly, men become embroiled in fights and disputes, hatred and enmity on account of women.
Fourthly, in striving to fulfil the improper cravings of women, men become inclined towards the dunya, and it is evident that there is nothing more dangerous than hankering after the dunya, for the Leader of the Two Worlds (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) stated:
“Love for this world is the root of every evil.”
The words of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) in the above Hadeeth: “left behind,” evinces that the fitnah of women during the Blessed Age of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was, relatively speaking, on a small scale.
This fitnah incrementally got worse after the demise of Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) as during the Era of Risaalat the Haqq was dominant, and the Force of Virtue suppressed all evil.
After Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) the power of baatil gradually took over and evil became predominant.
