Burnoose & Scarves

The Burnoose & Scarves

A Reminder To All Muslim Men!

Indeed, the winter cold spells are experienced in many of the provinces in South Africa. As Muslims, we are duty-bound to observe Islamic Guidelines during all seasons.

In this regard, we wish to remind and alert the males, especially the Imaams of our Masaajid, of the following:

  1. If one is wearing the burnoose, ensure the length is visibly above the ankles. An onlooker shouldn’t doubt this. Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is reported to have said that whatever of a male’s garments is below the ankles, will be in Jahannam (Bukhari Shareef and Muslim Shareef).
  2. If one is wearing the black and white scarves or any similar item, ensure that one is not covering one’s mouth during Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) forbade that a man should cover his mouth in Salaah. (Abu Dawood Shareef and Ibn Maajah Shareef – both Kitaabs have similar wordings).

In general, Muslim men should be wary of the above. Imaams of the Masaajid should be more wary of the above. And students of Deen should also be vigilant of the above.

May Allah Ta’ala grant us Hidaayat to make Amal on His Beautiful Deen during all occasions and seasons, Aameen.
