- To wake up early.
- To take a Ghusl (Bath).
- To use the Miswaak.
- To apply Itr.
- To wear one’s best Sunnah and Islamic clothes (don’t have to be new).
- To eat something sweet (e.g. dates) before the Eid Salaah.
- To discharge one’s Sadaqatul Fitr before the Eid Salaah.
- To perform Eid Salaah at the Eidgah – a venue approved by the Shari’ah.
- To walk to the Eidgah. However, there is no harm in using transport if the Eidgah is far.
- To recite the Takbeer softly when going to the Eidgah.
Note: There is NO narration mentioning that greeting and embracing after the Eid Salaah with ‘Eid-Mubaarak’ is a Sunnah. Thus, avoid it. Several great Muftis have said it is a Bid’ah. See our answer in the ‘Eid Mubaarak’ Questions and Answer post.
