Palestine & Our Reaction

As we all aware of the situation in Palestine, as Muslims, wherever we may be, we will feel the pain and heartache. This is a sign of Imaan, for indeed, a Hadith states that the Muslimeen are like a body, if the eye or head pains, the entire body feels the pain.

Furthermore, we have noticed certain Muslim Jamaats in their towns arranging certain activities for the ‘benefit’ of Palestine. We will list some of the activities we have come across hereunder:

  1. Fun walk for Palestine
  2. Horse riding for Palestine
  3. Wors rolls for Palestine
  4. Yaa-Seen and other Khatams for Palestine
  5. And obviously, money collection for Plestine

While we assume the above is done in ‘good faith’, the following should be noted:

  1. The most effective way of offering help in any situation is that which conforms to the Sunnah
  2. Calling women, children and everyone else on the streets, charging a R50 fee – even if proceeds go to Palestine – or putting them on a horse or on a march with Palestinian colours, will have no much effective effect
  3. Yaa-Seen Khatams and other similar Khatams are alien to Deen. Sahaabah never did any such Khatam on the eve of the many battles they fought
  4. Whilst donations will assist the Palestinians, ensure your money is given to trustable organisations. Organisations that had closed the Masaajid prior to lockdown cannot be trusted with even one cent of yours!

Last but not the least, there are two very powerful means we should adopt to assist not only the Muslims of Palestine, but the Muslims of the entire world. These two means are:

  1. Salaah: Five daily Salaah have to be performed. Men should be in the Masjid. Senseless we chant slogans in support of Palestine and dress in the colours of Palestine, yet men are not seen anywhere in the Masjid Fajr time – not even in the last Saff!
  2. Du’a: This is a Divine Weapon every Muslim is equipped with. Senseless we arrange horse rides, wors rolls and fun walks for Palestine but never do we sit extra on the Musallah and raise our hands in Du’a! Rather spend some time in Du’a then riding horses or purchasing wors rolls

Sahaabah used these two powerful means to attract Allah’s Nusrat during the nights before their Jihaad. How wonderfully were they helped in Badr with an Army of Angels! All other battles had favourable outcome!

Sahaabah never arrange Yaa-Seen Khatams, braais, wors rolls, horse rides, fun walks and other similar weird events in Madinah Munawwarah prior to any of their battles. They attracted the Help of Allah Ta’ala by each one engaging in Salaah, Du’a, Istighfaar and weeping, not in merrymaking rides, walks, braais, etc. Beautifully, the concluding Aayat of Surah Fatah explain this.

May Allah Ta’ala grant us correct understanding of Deen and protect the Muslims of Palestine, Aameen.
