Once while Imaam Maalik (Rahmatullah alaih) was teaching Hadith, a poisonous scorpion bit him. For the sake of respecting the Hadith, Imaam Maalik (Rahmatullah alaih) continued teaching despite the scorpion having bitten him several times. But not a murmur was made by Imaam Maalik (Rahmatullah alaih).
After the lesson had ended, a companion asked the reason for the change of the colour in his face. Only then did Imaam Maalik (Rahmatullah alaih) reveal what had happened.
Those who belittle the Hadith of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and treat the Sunnah with disdain, regarding it to be insignificant and shamelessly justify their non-observance of the Sunnnah, should take lesson from this episode.
