Selling The Deen

Once someone asked Hadhrat Abdullah Bin Mubarak (Rahmatullah alaih): `Who are true men?’

Abdullah Bin Mubarak: `The Ulama.’

The person: `Who is a king.’

Abdullah Bin Mubarak: `A Zaahid.’

The Person: `Who is a contemptible man?’

Abdullah Bin Mubarak: `He who sells the Deen to earn a living.’

Our Comment: Nowadays, unfortunately, Ulama who have made politics their hobby, sports their life, fashion and an obsession for the latest gadgets their profession, are seen to sell the Deen in various names. The Khauf (fear) for Allah Ta’ala has left their hearts almost entirely. May Allah Ta’ala protect us and grant them Hidaayat. These Ulama have sold many Laws of the Shari’at in various camouflaged un-Islamic activities.

The following are some of the current sad conditions in which Ulama who are modern thinking have a hand in:

  1. Islamic banking – Riba (interest)
  2. Islamic TV – Haraam TV
  3. Islamic Radios – Allowing females to leave their home, drive to the studio and voice their soft alluring talks on the airwaves for any male to listen to
  4. Islamic schools – Teaching a modern Islam to the future generation
  5. Politics – Allowing politicians to attend and address the Ummah at Eidgahs
  6. Conferences – Such as the marriage conference, sharing a platform with comedians who mocked Hazrat Abu Hurairah and Hazrat Aisha Radhiyallahu anhuma
  7. Souks – Calling Muslims to gather in what is supposed to be Islamic environment, yet much Haraam takes place there
  8. Silence – Not known to speak out and condemn open and clear Haraam activities in the Ummah which also at times involve Ulama
  9. MMB – Allowing the Shari’at’s laws to be issued by Kuffaar judges in courts. The Kuffaar judges will decide Iddat, custody etc.
  10. Shi’ahs – Not educating the thirsty Ummah about their evil ploys and plots in our country.
