- This kalimah is from the treasures of Jannah from beneath the Throne of Allah Ta’laa. The root of Jannah is the throne of Allah Ta’laa. By its recitation, an inclination is created for good deeds and disinclination for bad deeds. In this sense, it is a treasure of Jannah
- Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said that لا حول و لا قوة باللهis a cure for 99 diseases of both worlds, the lightest of which is worry. (Mirqaat vol 5 pg. 121)
- When any one reads this, Allah Ta’laa tell the angels that My servant has become obedient and has left all disobedience. As reported in a Hadith by Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radhiallahu Anhu) that Rasullullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said, ” Should I not inform you of a kalimah which is from the treasures of Jannah from beneath the Throne of Allah Ta’laa?
It is لا حول و لا قوةبالله. When any one read this, then Allah Ta’laa tell the angels that,
اسلم عبدي اي انقاد و ترك العناد
“My servant has become obedient and has left all disobedience”
و استسلم اي فوض امور الكاءنات الى الله
“and he has completely entrusted his affairs of both worlds tom Me” (Mirqaat vol 5 pg. 121-122)
- Ibrahim Alaihi Salaams message to Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi wa sallam)
This kalimah لا حول و لا قوة بالله was a message and an advice of Ibrahim (Alaihi-salaam) to Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi wa sallam) on the night of Mi’raaj.
Ibrahim Alaihi Salaam told Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) on the night of Mi’raaj to tell the Ummah that they must expand (in Gardens) in Jannah by reciting the above. (Mirqaat vol.5 pg 111)
The Explanation of لا حول و لا قوة بالله through the words of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam
Translation of Hadith
Hadhrat Abdullah Ibne Masood (Radhiyallahu Anhu) narrates that I presented myself in the service of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam). I recited
لا حول و لا قوة بالله
(la howla wa la Quwata illa billah).
Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) asked, “Do you know what it means?” I replied, “Allah and His Rasool know best” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) replied,
“ لا حول عن معصيته الا الله – There is no strength to refrain from sins but with the protection of Allah لا حول على طاعة الله الا الله and there is no power over good deeds but with the help of Allah” (Mirqaat vol 5 pg 111)
The unique feature of this Hadith is that the meaning of the words of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) is explained by Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) himself.
