We make Dua that the Ulama of Uucsa, affiliates, associates and members are in best of Imaan and health Aameen

It is with pain in my heart and concern for the Ummah that I send you this whatsapp.

On this matter of having the Masajids open or closed and there is a difference of opinion. Who is correct Allah Ta’ala knows best.

Uucsa (majority affiliates) has the view that Masajid should be closed.

From various sources Uucsa has given their proof. The Ulama with the opposite opinion also have their proof (this is my personal view as well).

Ulama have different views on many matters and that is nothing new. Again who is correct or who has the better and more correct view Allah Ta’ala knows best. People follow the Ulama or the view that suits them.

As you are opposed to opening the Masajids, inform the ummah via the normal channels and those that follow Uucsa can follow that ruling.

As for the other view they have requested the government for relaxation with regards to the Masajids lock down. Unbelievably and presumptuously your group chose to oppose the request.

If the government had given a relaxation in favour of removing some restrictions, Uucsa and its followers don’t have to attend the Masajid and nobody can force anyone to attend the Masajid.

Some Ulama are taking this matter to court which is their constitutional right, under the guidance of Hazrats: ML AS Desai Saheb, Mufti AK Hoosen Saheb, Mufti Hashim Boda Saheb.

Subsequently other Senior Ulama of the country have written to the government with the same request.

Amongst them are Hazrats:

ML Yunus Daya Saheb
Mufti Rada ul Haq Saheb
ML Shabbir Saloojee Saheb
Mufti Muhammed Ali Bhopali Saheb
ML Abdul Hameed Saheb
ML Fazlur Rahman Azmi Saheb
Mufti Muhammed Saeed Motara Saheb
Mufti Ebrahim Salejee Saheb Isipingo Beach
ML Haroon Abbasomar Saheb and various other Ulama too numerous to mention.

Suffice to say majority of the Senior Ulama support the request to respectfully petition Government to relax lock down laws with regards to Masajid. This group of Senior Ulama (not restricted to the names I mentioned) are regarded as the cream of our crop. Most Ulama defer to this group of Seniors for Ilm, tazkiya and guidance. Ulama acknowledge their taqwa, zuhd and zeal for Deen. Their hearfelt cry is for the Hidayah and salvation of the Ummah.

Unbelievably some of you (with the exception of Jamiatul Ulama KZN and Ulama Eastern Cape) have petitioned the court to testify against those who want some relaxation with regards to the Masjid lock down. Is that not the height of arrogance that you are unasked, volunteering to go to court to oppose a view different to yours?

If you don’t want to go to Masjid don’t go. Why stop someone else? Put your advice forward to the masses and everyone can than decide for himself.

It’s a constitutional right of every person to request the Government and failing that, they can take it to court. The court will decide.

What is beyond my understanding is that Uucsa is presumptuously fighting this matter in court.

Yes you have your proof, views and way of thinking and you think that is the correct way. Why impose it on others and shockingly go to court to impose it on others?

I am not asking you to change your viewpoint (though i would love you to change) but the least I can request is that you kindly don’t oppose people by going to court with a different view to you.

With this virus around, in our daily lives and in our Masajids we have to take the necessary safety precautions and as Muslims our normal routines are full of these precautions, Alhamdulillah.

We are also taught to tie the camel. However we shouldn’t tie the camel so tight that we choke the camel to death.

Death will come to us at the appointed time in spite of every precaution taken. Irrespective of any excuse/reason given for death.

We ask Allah Ta’ala to grant us long lives in the service of Deen and in the service of the Ummah on Haq with Istiqamat, Ikhlaas, Aafiyah and Qubooliyah and keep us alive as long as it’s good for us and to grant us maut on Imaan when its better for us. Aameen

If you are fearful of negative sentiments against Muslims, the Quraan e Karim and Ahadith gives us directions. All we need to be afraid of, is displeasing our Creator, Allah Ta’ala. The hearts of the creation is completely in the control of Allah Ta’ala. The only fear we should have is the consequences of our sins.

In current times we have surpassed the limits of disobedience and yes we have a genuine fear of Azaab due to our actions. These sins of ours will turn people, the masses and governments against us. The masses turning against by any excuse is inevitable due to our flagrant, arrogant and open transgressions of the Law of Allah Ta’ala. May Allah Ta’ala save us. Aameen

Our only recourse is to turn to Allah Ta’ala in repentance, crying and begging for forgiveness and changing our evil ways.

Instead of trying to please the masses and the people in power rather spend our efforts in pleasing Allah Ta’ala.

We are disgraced due to our love of this world. We are the architects of our own destruction.

It never crossed my imagination that a day will come when Masjids will be closed (due to our sins and especially my sins). Forget that, even more appalling is that Uucsa has requested the Masajids to be shutdown. Than it gets worse. Never in my worst nightmares would I have thought that I would see a day when Ulama will go to court to fight to keep Masajids locked. This is probably the DARKEST day in South African Islamic history.

If you don’t want to go to Masjid than for Allah’s sake don’t stop anyone else and don’t force your opinion down the throats of everyone.

The right thing to do is for you’ll to humble yourselves and to walk across the bench and support those people who are requesting for Masajids to be open.

Failing that the minimum that you should do is withdraw from this matter and make Dua, asking Allah Ta’ala for the best in this matter.

Let it not happen that in the court of Allah Ta’ala, Uucsa and the Muslims will be on opposing sides.

Some of you have been seen leaving your homes without necessity, going to work, visiting businessmen etc, yet at the same time you are opposed to having Masajids open. The open contradiction leaves me with a bitter taste in the mouth.

I am the most sinful person and an inconsequential person. I am in no position to advise anyone. However what I see happening appears detrimental to our Deen. Although i do nothing for Deen and I am not fit for anything good, I might have an excuse in the court of Allah Ta’ala, that I at least sent one whatsapp message.

O Allah Ta’ala, Rabb of Jibraeel, Mikaeel and Israfeel Alayhimus Salaam, Creator of the heavens and the earth, The One who knows whatever is hidden or visible, You alone will judge between Your servants in matters on which they differ. Guide us towards the truth in the disputed matters. Certainly You guide to the truth who You wish to guide.

May Allah Ta’ala show us the Haq as Haq and grant us the ability to follow it and may Allah Ta’ala show us baatil as baatil and grant us the ability to abstain from it.

Aameen

I humbly request the Honorable Ulama to forgive my mistakes and any disrespect. No disrespect intended to anyone.

May Allah Ta’ala unite the Ummah on Haq and remove every difficulty we facing. May Allah Ta’ala grant us Aafiyah in dunya and Aakhirah.

May Allah Ta’ala grant me sincerity and forgive my mistakes, committed intentionally or unintentionally

Aameen

Kindly remember us in your Duaas

Was Salaam
Your brother in Islam

CLARIFICATION: While the brother has included Mufti Emraan Vawda in his address to ‘UUCSA’ members, affiliates, etc., we are aware that Mufti Emraan Vawda is NOT a member of UUCSA (who are now known as friends of the Kuffar). Rather, Mufti Emraan Vawda is among the Ulama whose name appears on the list of Ulama that support the opening of the Masjid. Mufti Emraan Vawda has also issued a response to ‘UUCSA’s’ application as ‘Amicus curiae’ – which confirms them to be ‘Friends of the Kuffar’, besides two of their nine bodies, viz. Jamiat KZN and Ulama Council Eastern Cape. In this response, Advocate Mufti Emraan Vawda highlights the role of a ‘friend of the court’.
