Of what benefit is man’s intelligence, education and technology in front of the Makhlooq (creation – fire) of Khaaliq (The Creator – Allah Ta’ala)?
“And none knows the Army of your Rabb besides Him (Allah).” (Surah Muddathir)
By now, many people would be aware of the fires that are burning in Australia since late 2019 to this day (10 Jan 2020). Approximately, 2 500 buildings – of which 1 300 were houses – have been destroyed, 20 people died, 480 million (almost half a billion) animals died and an estimated 6.3 million hectares (16 million acres; 63,000 square kilometres; 24,000 square miles) of land has burned by the ongoing, uncontrolled, raging and roaring fires in Australia.
Herewith we present to you some snippets of reports as posted on the internet. While we assume most of the information to be true, ultimately, Allah Ta’ala is the best of Knower. This information is not presented to turn our article into a news report, but to read the reports and derive lessons, Insha Allah.
Medical instruments disrupted by the smoke!

The Canberra hospital announced some MRI machines had been impacted by the smoke and were unable to be used, although authorities moved to reassure people it was keeping up with demand.
Birthing babies – fearing their climate future
“I’ve delivered a baby this morning (in a smoky theatre) and done lots of antenatal visits. The dawn of a new decade. Normally a time for optimism and hope. Today, every single parent-to-be tells me they are fearful for their child’s climate future.” (Written by who appears to be a doctor)
Allah’s creation (fire) can shut down an entire city!
The fires had not reached the nation’s capital as yet but the impacts were still being felt. The city felt all but shut down, as health authorities issued warnings to residents to stay inside, shut all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners, despite the blistering heat.
Ten thousand firefighters cannot control the fires!
Authorities warned the smog (smoke / pollution /fog / haze) would stay for days, trapped by the same high temperatures and winds that had seen fire authorities admit they could not bring current blazes under control, even with 10,000 firefighters.
No mail deliveries!
Australia Post confirmed it had suspended mail deliveries to the ACT, with mail trucks and planes unable to get through.
The smoke travels more than 2 000 km and reaches New Zealand’s skies!

An ‘eerie’ feeling in New Zealand
Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, was among the areas recently shrouded by an orange haze. A Local Auckland resident told AccuWeather during an interview that she has never seen anything like this before in her life.
“The mood in the city was eerie – it felt almost apocalyptic. It was very sobering. We have known about the Australian fires for months, but this made the reality and the severity of the situation unavoidably clear,” She said. “Auckland is over 2000 km away from the fires, about the distance from Houston to New York, so the extent of the smoke coverage was really shocking. We all feel a bit helpless.”
TAKE THE LESSONS, O MUSLIMS…
WARNING to South African Muslim: Change our poor Islamic state immediately!
While there may be many other news reports which show the fearful state and reality caused by the fires, as Muslims of South Africa, we have to seriously consider this to be a wake-up call to change our current pathetic Islamic state of affairs and our lack of obedience, loyalty and practice upon the Laws of the Shari’at and the Sunnats of Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
If we continue in our open and proud transgressions and rebellion against the Laws of Allah Ta’ala, then we should understand that similar conditions could be inflicted upon our country as well. Sometimes, Allah Ta’ala uses His fires, sometimes He uses His water in the form of floods and sometimes He uses His winds in the form of tornados and hurricanes. As the Qur’anic Aayat mentioned in the beginning of this article indicates that Allah Ta’ala Alone knows His Army.
In the history of the world, Allah Ta’ala also used His tiny little creature as His Army. As described by some Ulama, a lame, female mosquito was under Divine Command and Instruction to enter into the head via the passageway of the nostrils of a tyrannical, proud and haughty king called Namrood who thought he was ‘Allah’ (Na’uthu-Billah). This incident is famous and known by many as discussed in the opening pages of the third Juz of the Qur’an Majeed.
Currently, South Africans are faced with certain ‘minor-warnings’. Many times, land-grabbing takes place, crime is on an ever increase, kidnapping is now becoming famous in South Africa, and the one that affects all is the load-shedding of electricity. These are ‘signs’ that in no second, Allah Ta’ala can make our conditions change due to our ongoing and open rebellion against many of His Laws.
Authority, technology, wealth, degrees, expertise, professions, certificates, medicine, palatial mansions, sporty and flashy cars, beach-front holiday houses, overseas vacations, fantastic bank balances, etc. will be of NO avail when Allah’s Punishment strikes a nation.
Therefore, immediate changes have to be made in terms of our Islamic affairs! Every individual should start with him/herself. The following points are for the immediate changes. Whilst there are many more points of rectification among our communities, we will Insha Allah, discuss the rest in the future.
- Dumping the TV out of the homes and lives totally
- Performance of the 5 daily Salaahs on their respective times
- Strict observance of Hijaab which include segregation between brother/sister-in-laws and opposite gender cousins
- Dressing in accordance to the Sunnah uniform. Males to don Kurtahs which are WELL ABOVE their ankles AT ALL TIMES. Women to wear loose, unattractive clothing and cover their faces with proper Niqaabs in public
- Discarding of wasteful and merrymaking functions which are dens of sins like music, filming – photos and videos, intermingling and boasting – even if such functions are dubbed as ‘Walimahs’, ‘family reunions’ or ‘Jalsahs’. No gathering can be blessed and permissible if the Laws of Allah Ta’ala are dumped and discarded shamelessly in the bins at those events
Every Muslim should strive in order to bring the above changes immediately in his/her life. Upon courage, Allah Ta’ala will send assistance and will make the changes easy, Insha Allah. We have to take the first step.
The above points should be looked at seriously by every Muslim/Muslimah. Don’t look for loopholes, flawed and concocted ‘Fatwas’ which are ‘made-up’ in order to justify anything which is a sin in Deen When changing ourselves, look at oneself. Don’t look around at the doings of others – or other learned men.
Ulama who legalize Haraam Riba (interest) banking and finances, who legalize insurances and investments which invovles interest in them, who appear on TV, who appear on so-called ‘Islamic’ radios, who approve of commercial meats as ‘Halaal’, who sanction so-called ‘Islamic’ schools, dinner eves and conferences and who justify major evils and wrongs should pay special heed to the Australian fires which cannot be contained by 10,000 firefighters!
Furthermore, Ulama who congratulate the Muslim matric girls who passed their matric is indeed another act of transgression for which Muslims may pay a price. Ulama who do so, are Ulama who have become completely desensitized to the Laws of Hijaab and Hayaa. Their congratulating matric girls is indeed an insult to their knowledge which is supposed to encompass the Laws of Hijaab, Hayaa and the role of Muslim women.
May Allah Ta’ala safeguard us from His Punishment which appear in various forms, Aameen.
